Protected Lives – Mental Health Prevention and Combating Domestic Violence Based on the Maria da Penha Law
Project Objective:
Focused on the prevention, awareness, and confrontation of domestic violence against women through educational campaigns, workshops, discussion groups, and strengthening the protection network provided by the Maria da Penha Law. We primarily offer psychological help to victims and their families, strengthening their self-esteem, reality, and path out of codependency.
To promote the prevention and confrontation of domestic violence against women, strengthening the support network and citizenship. We count on the support of our psychologists, therapists, social workers, and professionals linked to mental health.
Key Scope of Action:
- Train community leaders and multipliers.
- Conduct educational campaigns and workshops.
- Expand access to information regarding women's rights.
- Establish partnerships with public and private services.
Target Audience
- Women in situations of vulnerability.
- The general community (youth, families, local leaders).
- Education, healthcare, and social assistance professionals.
Methodology
Awareness campaigns (printed materials, digital content, and events). Empowerment workshops and discussion groups. Training of community multipliers. Integration with CRAS (Social Assistance Reference Center), CREAS (Specialized Social Assistance Reference Center), Child Guardianship Councils, the Public Prosecutor's Office, and the Women's Defense Police Station. Community mobilization meetings.
Structure and Infrastructure
Physical Space: Set up a rehabilitation center with adequate space for medical consultations, individual and group therapy sessions, as well as recreational and educational activities.
The facility must feature individual assistance rooms, group therapy rooms, a cafeteria, and outdoor areas for open-air activities, among others.
Equipment and Materials: Invest in comfortable furniture, educational materials, hygiene kits, office supplies, and audiovisual resources.
Human Resources
The project team must consist of professionals specialized across multiple fields:
- Psychologists and psychiatrists for psychological support and specialized medical treatment.
- Social workers to guide and counsel families.
- An administrative and resource management team for coordination and project organization.
